I've noticed this when trying to translate a joke, where some guy zepsuł a marble ball. In Polish it's funny cause there's nothing to zepsuć there - it's just a ball. In English break has at least 4 meanings: - to break a complicated system, like a car = zepsuć - to break a glass = zbić - to break a bone/a leg/a stick (destroy sth by bending it too hard) = złamać - to break a circuit, connection, activity = przerwać And breaking a ball isn't funny, people just assume different meaning. Am I correct in thinking there's no word in English that distinguish between these meanings?
it means to break
To break is a simple word to translate
This just means to break.
This word means simply “break down”. For example: “Zepsułem ten długopis” => “I’ve broken down this pen”.
