Chinese 背影 (bèi yǐng)The back view of someone who is walking away from you.

The official English translation of the poet Zhu Ziqing’s famous essay 《背影》is “Retreating Figure” [Retreating Figure](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/14737752-retreating-figure). Though it’s a close translation, it doesn’t specify that the person must be facing away from the viewer. Also, 背影 refers to the view of the person’s back rather than the actual figure.
