Putting sugar in your cup and stirring makes the whole cup plainly sweet. Drinking the coffee "på bit" (lit. on lump) gives more aroma. I think it is because you get air mixed in, esp if you hold the sugar between your teeth. You need the iold kind of sugar, though. Today the most common sugar crumbles and melts too fast. In Sweden you can even buy the special sugar called "På bit" as opposed to sugar cubes, granulated, caster sugar...
